Crispy strips of fried marinated beef in a sweet vinegar and honey sauce, all topped with ginger, garlic, and chili. Perfect with noodles or rice.
Ingredients
- 2 rump steaks
- 1/2 tbsp of sesame oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 6 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 4 tbsp honey
- 3 tbsp ketchup
- 100g cornflour
- Vegetable oil
- 2 tsp grated ginger
- 3 cloves garlic, diced
- 1 red chilli, diced
Instructions
- First, firm the steaks by putting them in the freezer for no longer than 30 minutes to make them easier to cut into fine slices. When they are firm, remove them from the freezer and cut into very thin strips. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a work or pan.
- In a bowl, mix the sesame oil, sugar, and soy sauce, before adding the steak strips. Coat them evenly and leave them to marinate. In a separate bowl, make the sauce by mixing the vinegar, honey, and ketchup.
- Pour the cornflour into a third bowl, and season it with some salt and pepper. Then, add the steak strips one by one and coat them in the flour, adding more flour if necessary.
- Add the coated steak strips to the pan of hot oil, and fry them for a few minutes until crisp. Use a thin instrument like chopsticks to stir and keep the meat separated.
- Finally, drain almost all the oil, and add the garlic, chilli, and the vinegar sauce to the pan. Heat through until it is bubbling and serve.
