Delivery Forecast - Week 6 Update

Delivery Forecast - Week 6 Update

Hello everyone 👋

Please find the sixth instalment of our weekly update below.

Week Ending 26/03/2021 (Friday)

I'm pleased to report that this week unfolded without issue.

The foundry team successfully cast and delivered more than enough castings to the machine shop to meet the paint MOQ, and they remain confident that they can maintain the current rate over the coming weeks.

This is much welcome news. My main priority is fulfilling the orders of those that have pre-ordered. But looking forward, I would also like to get into a position where I have stock available for immediate delivery.

The casting scrap rate is slightly higher than we had planned, but these teething issues are to be expected, and I'm sure that we will be able to iron these problems out between myself, the team at the foundry and the pattern maker.

The machine shop has advised a 7-10 day turn around time for the first batch of castings & handles. The coating company we are working with have advised a 10-12 day turn around time.

There are two processes carried out at the coating shop. First, the internal coating is applied by filling the mill body with the food contact approved coating we have selected. This is then drained and cured in a curing over at over 400 degrees Celcius.

Next, the external powder coating is applied - to do this without paint coating the inside the mill, the holes are blanked with bungs, and then exterior surface can be sprayed with the fine-textured matt powder coating. The mills then need a final cure in the oven at a little over 200 degrees Celcius.

Thanks for reading - I'll update you all again next Sunday!
