Hello everyone 👋
Please find the tenth instalment of our weekly update below.
Week Ending 23/04/2021 (Friday)
We've had another good week. The new foundry has consumed all the cores I provided them and delivered the final batch of castings to the machine shop.
Moving forward, they have re-designed the internal core box to meet their production requirements, and there will now be a two-week gap in casting.
However, the foundry has delivered enough castings for us to manufacture all of our pre-orders and all of the colours displayed online.
The machine shop has been optimising their CNC programmes to reduce machining time and increase our throughput.
They had a good week and have one batch of castings complete and another batch due to be completed on Tuesday.
I now have all of the machined castings and handles polished and ready for paint. The remainder of which will be delivered for paint on Tuesday when I collect the next batch of machined castings.
I aim to have the following two batches of castings polished up and ready for paint by the end of next week.
Sadly, the paint workshop was unable to start on the castings. They have advised that they will begin this work on Monday 26th. To that end, I have adjusted the production plan accordingly and moved the anthracite and oyster mills to the right by one week.
Unfortunately, the new packaging tubes will also be delayed. The supplier has refused to ship them on the express air freight service we had agreed to use due to a rise in costs. My only option was to accept sea freight which takes 3-4 weeks.
I do, however, have stock of the boxes I originally purchased. As we draw closer to delivery, I will contact each of you before I dispatch your orders and ask if you'd prefer to wait for the new packaging or if you're happy to receive the original packaging.
Sadly I don't have any images to share this week. I hope you've all had a lovely weekend and are enjoying the beautiful sunshine.
Thanks for reading,
